Maryland Forest House
under constructionThe Forest house was imagined as a long, undulating chain of volumes along the varied topography and dense existing tree cover. Curved walls of blackened vertical siding fade behind a grove of sweet gun and tulip poplar, while the flat roofs give deference to the impressive canopy beyond. The interiors are arranged along an open axial corridor, which pulls natural light from one space, and from one level, to another. Honed stone floors, oiled cypress walls, and a neutral color palette provide soft, calming textures, intended to compliment the expansive views into the forest beyond.
